“The New York State Report on Pregnancy-Associated Deaths in 2018,” published by the New York State Department of Health, is part of the state’s ongoing commitment to address systemic disparities and ensure safer birth experiences for mothers and families. The new report is the result of the work of the New York State Maternal Mortality Review Board (MMRB) and the New York State Maternal Mortality & Morbidity Advisory Council (MMMAC) to identify common causes of death in pregnant New Yorkers and develop recommendations to improve their health and safety.
